Alexander E. Poor, MD is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of core muscle injuries. He earned his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA. He then completed a 7-year residency in General Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine, which included 2 years of basic science research. After completing a two-year core medicine fellowship with Dr. William C. Meyers at the Vincera Institute, he stayed on to practice alongside his mentor-now-partner. After over a decade in practice, he has treated thousands of professional, collegiate, and recreational athletes with core muscle injuries.
Serving as the director of research at the Vincera Institute, he has an interest in basic science and clinical research that advances understanding of core anatomy and the pathophysiology of its associated injuries.
He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy. He sees patients at Vincera in Philadelphia and has a satellite practice in Fort Lauderdale, where is sees patients and operates monthly.
