Bert R. Mandelbaum, M.D., D.H.L (Hon.) is a world-renowned expert in orthopedic surgery, specializing in knee conditions and regenerative orthobiologics. At Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, he serves as Vice-Chairman and Professor within the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Co-Director of the Regenerative Orthobiologic Center, and Medical Director of the Cedars-Sinai FIFA Medical Center of Excellence.
As a leader in sports medicine, Dr. Mandelbaum serves as the Chief Medical Officer for US Soccer and the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Major League Soccer (MLS). His extensive international experience includes serving as a medical officer for nine FIFA World Cups and six Olympic Games. Currently, he is a Team Physician for the USA for the FIFA World Cup 2026, LA Galaxy and Pepperdine University, and is involved in providing executive oversight for the LA28 Olympic Games.
Dr. Mandelbaum earned his medical degree from Washington University Medical School, completed his residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, and held a fellowship in Sports Medicine at UCLA, where he also served as a faculty member. Throughout his career, he has remained dedicated to a diverse spectrum of professional, elite, youth, and recreational athletes, with a focus on return to sport.
