Dr. Wolcott is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship-trained in sports medicine, with expertise in the treatment of complex knee, ankle, and shoulder problems. She has developed techniques in the diagnosis and treatment of exertional leg pain in athletes and serves as the Practice Director for CU Sports Medicine in Denver. She is also the Vice Chair of Academic Community Engagement in the Department of Orthopedics.
Dr. Wolcott trained at Georgetown University for medical school and did her residency at Loyola University where she was honored with the prestigious senior resident research award. She did her sports medicine fellowship at the University of Iowa where she was responsible for the coordination and care of the football, basketball and wrestling teams.
Since 2003, she has served as a team physician for the University of Colorado, University of Denver, Colorado Mammoth, and Denver Nuggets, and as co-medical director for Colorado Rapids youth soccer league.
Dr. Wolcott is a Professor at the CU School of Medicine and supervises the fellows, residents, and medical students in the Department of Orthopedics. She participates in an extensive list of research projects and has published numerous articles on the care and treatment of complex knee and ankle injuries, including cartilage, ligamentous, and chronic issues in professional and recreational athletes. Her areas of expertise include ACL reconstruction, realignment/osteotomy surgery, meniscus surgery, ankle instability, cartilage restoration procedures, compartment syndrome release/fasciotomy, and rotator cuff repair.
Dr. Wolcott is passionate about the total care of the athlete and has dedicated her free time to promoting advocacy in sports. She has pioneered awareness and education of physician leaders in recognizing and preventing abuse of athletes and continues to work in this evolving area. She spends the rest of her time with her two children and their numerous hobbies and interests.
