Dr. Peter J. Millett is an internationally recognized orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist with expertise in conditions affecting the shoulder, knee, and elbow. He currently serves as the Director of Shoulder Surgery at the Steadman Clinic and as Chief Medical Officer of the Steadman Philippon Research Institute. Over the course of his career, he has earned numerous distinctions, including repeated selection as one of the “Best Doctors in America” and recognition among the top 1% of orthopedic surgeons by U.S. News & World Report.
Dr. Millett has extensive experience treating elite and professional athletes from major organizations such as the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, PGA Tour, Formula One, X-Games, and the Olympic Games. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and actively participates in leading professional organizations, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, among others. His leadership roles include chairing the Neer Circle and contributing to several boards and advisory groups.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Millett held a faculty position at Harvard Medical School, where he also co-directed the Harvard Shoulder Service and Fellowship. He founded the Musculoskeletal Proteomics Research Group, contributing to important discoveries in osteoarthritis research.
An accomplished academic, Dr. Millett has authored more than 400 peer-reviewed publications, several books, and numerous book chapters. He also holds over 100 patent filings. In addition, he has trained more than 200 surgeons worldwide and has received multiple teaching and achievement awards in recognition of his contributions to orthopedic education and research.
