Dr. Timothy S. Johnson is an orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon with the National Sports Medicine Institute in Lansdowne, Virginia, and serves as Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency and sports medicine fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery/Weill Cornell Medical College following medical school at Yale University School of Medicine. 
Dr. Johnson has extensive experience in professional and amateur athletics and has served as a Major League Baseball team physician for the Baltimore Orioles since 2003. He has also served as a venue physician for the World Baseball Classic in Puerto Rico and Japan and currently serves as a consulting team physician for FIFA/CAF and the Federação Cabo-Verdiana de Futebol. 
His clinical and research interests include shoulder instability, ACL reconstruction and revision surgery, and sports injury management. He is an active contributor to the Multicenter ACL Revision Study (MARS) group and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. 
Dr. Johnson is a Fellow of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and previously served as Chair of the AOSSM Membership Committee. In 2024, he received the AOSSM Outstanding Service Award in recognition of his contributions to the society and the field of sports medicine.
