Alan Zhang, MD

Alan Zhang is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco. He is Sports Medicine Surgeon and the Medical Director of the UCSF Orthopaedic Institute, the Director of the UCSF Hip Preservation Center and Associate Editor of Arthroscopy Techniques. He specializes in hip, knee and shoulder arthroscopy and conducts clinical research in each field focusing on patient outcomes. After earning his B.A. in biochemistry from Rice University, he earned his M.D. from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. He then completed residency in orthopedic surgery at UCLA Medical Center. He completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at UCSF.
