Dalhousie Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine
Dr. Ivan Wong, MD, FRCSC, MAcM, Dip. Sport Medicine, FAANA, is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Dalhousie University, where he also Co-Directs the The Joint Preservation, Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Fellowship Program. Originally from Prince Edward Island, Canada, he earned his medical degree from Dalhousie University He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at McMaster University, followed by fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Trauma at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute in Los Angeles. He also holds a Master’s degree in Academic Medicine from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Wong currently serves on the Editorial Boards of the American Journal of Sports Medicine (AJSM) and Arthroscopy, the Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery. He is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery, Biomedical Engineering, Continuing Professional Development and Medical Education, and Health and Human Performance at Dalhousie University, where he also Co-Directs the Joint Preservation, Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopic Reconstruction Fellowship Program. In addition, he serves as an Associate Editor for the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine (OJSM).
Dr. Wong specializes in hip and shoulder arthroscopy, with expertise in advanced arthroscopic reconstructions for large rotator cuff tears and arthroscopic anatomic glenoid reconstruction (AAGR) techniques. His clinical and academic focus is centered on innovation, developing less invasive procedures that reduce pain, minimize incisions, and shorten recovery times. Dedicated to advancing his field, Dr. Wong has helped to train many medical students, residents, and fellows in sports medicine, as well as orthopaedic surgeons in sports medicine and arthroscopic procedures around the world.
Dr. Wong has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers and has presented his research outcomes and surgical techniques at over 350 conferences, webinars and courses around the world during the past decade.
