Rush University Medical Center
Adam B. Yanke, M.D., Ph.D., is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rush Medical College, where he serves as Vice Chair of Research and Co-Director of the Rush Cartilage Restoration Center. He specializes in advanced arthroscopy, shoulder replacement, patellofemoral dysfunction, and cartilage restoration.
Dr. Yanke earned his B.S. in Engineering Physics and Zoology from Miami University and his M.D. from Rush Medical College, followed by orthopedic surgery residency and a sports medicine fellowship at Rush University Medical Center. He simultaneously pursued a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, developing a novel method for analyzing cartilage activity in normal, aged, and damaged states — research that directly informs his clinical practice.
Dr. Yanke has authored more than 275 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters, and presented over 260 abstracts at national and international conferences. He is an active member of the International Cartilage Repair Society and International Patellofemoral Study Group, was recognized as an Emerging Leader by the American Orthopaedic Association, and has been named a Castle Connolly Top Doctor by Chicago Magazine each year since 2020.
A former All-State lacrosse player, Dr. Yanke serves as a team physician for the Chicago Bulls (NBA), Chicago White Sox (MLB), and Chicago Windy City Bulls (NBA G-League). As Director of Education for the Rush University Sports Medicine Fellowship, he is committed to training the next generation of orthopedic surgeons while delivering cutting-edge, patient-centered care — including participation in clinical trials involving biologics for cartilage and arthritis conditions.
