Doctor E. Lyle Cain, Jr. is an Orthopedic Surgeon and Sports medicine specialist in Birmingham, Alabama. Dr. Cain is the Managing partner of the renowned Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center in Birmingham and Board member of The American Sports Medicine Institute, a non-profit research and education foundation. Dr. Cain provides care to active people at all ages and has been a team physician for many high school, college and professional teams in Alabama. He has been the Team Orthopedic Surgeon and Medical Director for The University of West Alabama since 2000, and The University of Alabama Crimson Tide since 2001. Dr. Cain is active in the national leadership of the orthopedic community as past Board member for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and current Board member of the Southern Orthopaedic Association. Among many awards for service to the athlete, Dr. Cain was named the 2021 Southeastern Conference Physician of the Year, the 2023 Alabama Athletic Training Association Sports Medicine Person of the Year and the 2016 Southeastern Athletic Trainers Association Hughston Sports medicine Person of the Year. He has trained over 250 physicians and hundreds of Certified Athletic Trainers in the science of musculoskeletal medicine and art of being a caring Team Physician.
