Dr. Deryk G. Jones is a highly respected orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist, renowned for his expertise in biologic reconstructive and cartilage restoration in the knee, hip, shoulder, ankle, and elbow. He was the Head of Sports Medicine and Cartilage Restoration at the Ochsner Andrews Sports Medicine Institute from 2004-2025, an institute that he created and developed. Dr. Jones has been at the forefront of innovative treatments, including FDA trials utilizing stem cells, articular chondrocytes and umbilical injections for biologic therapies.
Dr. Jones is now the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Service Line Chair for Sutter Health. He will help Sutter Health’s mission to create nationally recognized orthopedic and sports medicine advanced clinical programs. The goal is the development of Advanced Complexes devoted to providing excellent, high- level care to the northern California region in all subspecialties within orthopedics and sports medicine. A major focus is the development of an athletic training program in each of Sutter’s five major divisions. Clinically he will continue to help individuals with complex chondral injuries providing biologic solutions in the development of a knee and hip joint preservation program. He is seeing patients in the Castro Valley region as part of the East Bay Medical Group.
